Years ago we heard from a listener to our radio show who suffered from restless leg syndrome (RLS). This creepy-crawly feeling in her legs was debilitating, because it could keep her up at night. It was especially troublesome when she had to take a long airplane flight. Her husband often had to fly to Europe on business and she frequently accompanied him. She dreaded the prospect of sitting still for hours while being driven to distraction by symptoms of RLS.
She began using soap under the bottom sheet to help successfully alleviate both leg cramps and RLS. Then she got creative. She chopped and shaved a bar of soap and put the shards in her socks on her next flight. To her delight, she wasn’t bothered by RLS on that trip. She shared her secret with us and we shared it with readers and listeners.
As they say, the rest is history. We have heard from many people that soap chips in socks or pockets can prevent or ease muscle cramping and alleviate restless legs. But who wants to take the time to get out a knife and shave a bar of soap and risk a nasty cut? Chopping a bar of soap into shards is not much fun.
That’s why we created The People’s Pharmacy Leg Soap. These special soap chips are easy to use and have a pleasant tea olive fragrance. One package of People’s Pharmacy Leg Soap includes an ample box of soap chips, the perfect shape for slipping into socks or pockets. You may be surprised at how easy they are to use and how effective they can be.
Ingredients:
Donna, you are certainly not the only one with that sensitivity. We suspect that fragrance-free soap might not work, but we’d be pleased to hear from somebody who does the experiment.
Well, Valerie, so far as I know, the soap is not a matter of life and death. Also, we tell you: it’s soap. Skinny, fancy soap, but just soap. You can get the same effect from another bar you find at a better price.
What is the difference between a pharmaceutical company overcharging us for drugs and The People’s Pharmacy charging $7.95 for a skinny fancy bar of soap?
I would use a soap if it had no fragrance..very allergic to perfumes and chemicals.
My husband has a bad case of restless leg syndrome. He has put the soap under the fitted sheet on our bed, and it’s helping. We’re astounded and thankful!
Well, I ordered two boxes, thinking it would have a pleasant natural soap smell and could give one to a friend. I am very sensitive to strong perfumes, but have no issues with natural soaps. Your bars have a very strong scent, which I’m sure some people love, and some will strongly dislike.
Hopefully, you will offer these soon without the scent? I’m giving it 3 Stars due to scent, but would give it 5 if it were unscented or something more natural. I haven’t tried them yet cause I’m afraid it will cause a skin reaction and definitely would not be able to sleep with the scent. I opened one box and had to take it out of my bedroom. They would be useful to put in a room that you want to mask odors, like the basement. Clever idea to have them in this small size, easy to put in your socks. Unfortunate about the strong smell.
Second order for me on bed soap. It works for me. I get a lot of laughs, that is okay my legs feel better.
My mother heard about this and she has rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, cancer and a whole list of other health problems. She tried the soaps and called me and said in a voice of pure relief that she had finally found something that actually worked; she did not know that this would forever be a life changing experience.
My mother is skeptical of everything and when someone told her about this, she didn’t think it would work but she was in so much pain she tried it anyway. Now there is a bar in every bed of her house, she will not sleep unless there is a bar of soap there. When my mom told me about it I knew it had to be true because:
1st, she wouldn’t lie about something like this. She would just simply throw the bar away and never mention it.
2nd, she is able to get up and do what needs to be done and
Last of all, she has been cleaning houses for 30+years and has never had anything, even with medicine, make her feel so well rested. She is back up to two or three houses a day and has taken on cleaning at night…. by the way she is in her 60’s. That right there made me a firm believer!!!
I had tried Ivory under the sheets and nothing, so I was quite skeptical when someone told me about this site. I ordered the leg soap, and I will not go without it again. It took away the 30 minutes it used to take me to get my legs where I could go to sleep. I have episodes throughout the day. I have kept a soap chip in my sock and have not had one episode since. There have been a couple of times I thought I might, but never got the usual cramps and legs jumping. I have been absolutely amazed!!!
I am a great believer in soap avoiding cramps. I use the small cakes of soap hotels provide for their guests and place these in my socks when I go to bed. I use 2 pairs of socks and place the soap between to avoid having the soap touching my skin as this caused dermatitis before. Before I heard about this soap in socks story I used to wake up screaming from pain when the cramps hit my legs or feet. After starting to use the soap I do not suffer from cramps anymore. It amazes me that when I talk to doctors about this they smile arrogantly as if to say oh there is another slightly demented patient, let us humour him. I am so pleased to hear that this treatment is being taken seriously by some researchers. Kong rad Wassenaar, Australia.
Any idea which ingredient (in the soap) is helping with the RLS?
It has really helped my RLS after I go to bed. Unfortunately, my RLS sometimes kicks in before I get in bed. I find I am taking my Rx earlier than I’d like.
I like it and so does my husband. He uses it for restless leg and I for cramps. So far, it seems to work. Better than anything else I have tried.
I love this soap and use it every night. It does help me in preventing night time leg/foot cramps. Also love the smell! So does my 5 year old granddaughter!
Why have it smell? Cmon this was a bad decision.
It works extremely well but I cannot tolerate the fragrance. Would you consider making a fragrance free version?
I was very hopeful that it would calm my restless and aching feet and legs at night. But, was very disappointed when it did phase the symptoms.
The soap has an odor — it can’t be used. I have cramps at night — this soap has an odor so bad my spouse says I can’t use it.
My husband thought I was crazy to buy this soap for his restless legs syndrome and swore it would never work but guess what, it does!! He is absolutely amazed that this works for him as he just couldn’t see how that could be but every time he used it his legs were much better so after being such a big skeptic now he believes! It’s a great soap and you have to try it for yourself.
Did not help my RSL.
