Quitting smoking is hard. Compared to other compounds, nicotine is one of the most addictive drugs on the market. But a good hard physical workout may help smokers overcome their nicotine cravings. Researchers reviewed the results of 19 clinical trials related to smoking cessation. Smokers were randomly assigned to watch videos or get vigorous exercise by biking or walking at a good pace. Those who exercised discovered they did not have the same urge to smoke. The data reinforce the observation that exercise has multiple health benefits for mood, mind and muscles.
