A digital temple thermometer distributed by Bestmed is being recalled by the manufacturer.
Digital Temple Thermometer Is Not Accurate:
According to the FDA, some of these thermometers display temperatures that are inaccurate and lower than actual body temperatures. This might cause the user or caregiver to underestimate the severity of an infection and delay seeking appropriate care.
Such a delay could be especially serious for children who have a very high fever that might lead to seizures or for people with compromised immune systems such as cancer patients.
Who Sold This Thermometer?
Some retailers that sold the device under their label include Kroger, Meijer, Safeway, Best Choice, Bestmed and Target.
The FDA cautions consumers who have a Digital Temple Thermometer to immediately stop using the device. They can return the thermometer to Bestmed for a free replacement. These hand-held thermometers can be identified by the DTT logo above the small digital screen.
