What Will Happen to The People’s Pharmacy When Joe & Terry Retire?

After 50 years writing and speaking about the pros and cons of drugs and home remedies, Joe & Terry are seeking partners. Can you help?

We have been writing about the benefits and risks of medications for over 50 years. We have also been researching the science behind home remedies for at least that long. You can read all about our professional careers at this link. https://www.peoplespharmacy.com/about

Our Website Describes our Mission:

“Empowering you to make wise decisions about your own health, by providing you with essential health information about both medical and alternative treatment options.”

“We stand up for the consumer by serving as a watchdog of the medical and pharmaceutical industries, including the FDA itself.”

The People’s Pharmacy in Print and on the Radio:

Joe started providing health commentaries for NPR in 1977. In 1978 he began writing a nationally syndicated newspaper column for King Features. It continues to be read online and in papers around the country including the Chicago Tribune, the Baltimore Sun, the Seattle Times and the Houston Chronicle, to name just a few King Features clients.

After teaching medical anthropology at the Duke School of Nursing and the Duke Department of Anthropology, Terry joined Joe in writing books and newspaper columns. A weekly talk and interview show on health started on WUNC in 1981. In 1994 the show was syndicated nationally. It is heard on hundreds of NPR stations/repeaters.

The Future of The People’s Pharmacy?

Joe and Terry have been working hard for decades. This website and newsletter take an extraordinary amount of time. They want to write at least one more book, but there is not enough time in a week to allow them to add additional writing time.

Because The People’s Pharmacy has a tiny staff (Joe & Terry, one radio show producer, one sound editor and a social media editor), they need help and partners if they want to write any more books. That’s where you, our loyal readers come in.

Can You Help?

Do you know any highly credentialed, experienced health professionals who would like to partner with The People’s Pharmacy? Integrity and independence are critical criteria for any partners/contributors.

We are looking for people who could help us with articles for the newspaper column and website. We are also looking for great guests for the radio show who might be able to fill in as guest hosts from time to time.

If you have any ideas, please email them to Joe and Terry at:

Thank you for your support and encouragement.
