Tanning Beds Labeled Carcinogenic

Despite dermatologists’ dire warnings about skin cancer, millions still soak up ultraviolet rays at the beach or their local tanning parlor. Now the International Agency for Research on Cancer has released data demonstrating that tanning beds are carcinogenic for humans. People who start using tanning beds before they turn 30 increase their risk of melanoma by about 75 percent. Melanoma is the most dangerous form of skin cancer, and the incidence has been increasing worldwide. An increased risk of melanoma of the eye has also been linked to tanning bed use.
