One antiviral medicine called Tamiflu seems to be helpful for preventing complications in children with chronic health problems such as asthma, other lung conditions, cancer or diabetes. A study of over 5,000 children found that those who received Tamiflu shortly after developing influenza were 25 percent less likely to develop breathing-related complications compared to kids who got no antiviral flu medicine. They were also about thirty percent less likely to get ear infections or be hospitalized.
