Q. I suffer from “winter itch” which has been getting progressively worse each winter. I began taking a biotin supplement and a turmeric capsule daily.
Much to my surprise, my winter itch was almost negligible last winter. What’s more, a patch of psoriasis has all but disappeared. I hope this helps others.
A. Winter itch is a common term for seriously dry skin, also called xerotic eczema. The usual recommendations for treatment involve conscientious application of moisturizers and avoiding long hot soaks in the tub, which can dry the skin further.
It’s wonderful that biotin (a vitamin) and turmeric (an anti-inflammatory spice) have given you such great results. We’ve heard from many readers who have found turmeric in capsules or in curry powder helpful against psoriasis. We were not familiar with its use against dry skin.
