What About Old-Fashioned Liquid Milk of Magnesia?
Many people say that they like to use the OTC laxative form of milk of magnesia on their underarms. It is less expensive than a roll-on product.
Joyce asks:
“Do you have to use MoM Deodorant or can you spread regular milk of magnesia with a cotton ball, and then wait a minute or two for it to dry?”

“You can use regular milk of magnesia. Just make sure it’s the plain unflavored one. I’ve been using it for years and I love it.”
We have no complaints with that concept. In fact, that is how we first learned about MoM as a deodorant. Someone traveling to Brazil had left her deodorant at home. It was hot and humid. The cab driver suggested milk of magnesia from a local pharmacy. She tried it and reported her success to us.
The only concern we have with drugstore milk of magnesia is the preservative that the FDA condones or requires. It is sodium hypochlorite, also known as bleach. Even if it is in low concentration, we are not certain that using a chlorine-based preservative on your underarms is a terrific concept. In addition, sloshing liquid milk of magnesia on your underarms is not all that convenient. We tried it ourselves before we came up with the idea for Aluminum-Free MoM Roll-on Deodorant.
