Q. Would you like another home remedy for bee stings? Some years ago I received several stings from yellow jackets while I was mowing grass. I tried Mylanta Liquid on the stings and it stopped the pain instantly. I have used this many times since then for myself and my grandson. One application and the pain is gone and no further treatment is needed.
A. Thanks for telling us about your simple approach. We have been collecting remedies for stings for decades but this is the first time we have heard of using Mylanta Liquid. This antacid contains aluminum and magnesium hydroxides and simethicone.
We don’t know how it works against stings unless the alkalinity counteracts the venom. People have used baking soda with similar results, and it too is a good antacid.
Other approaches for bee stings include a fresh cut onion. Just hold the cut side against the sting. Here is a link to lots of stories about onions for stings.
