Laptops May Affect Sperm

Spending hours with a laptop computer on your lap may not be good for the gonads. That’s the tentative conclusion of a study published in the journal Fertility and Sterility. The problem is the heat generated by a laptop computer. Within 10 minutes of booting up, the computer had warmed the scrotum above safe temperatures, although the 29 young men in the study did not feel uncomfortable. Male infertility contributes to problems conceiving for one American couple in twelve. The only protection against this potential problem is to put the laptop on a table or desk instead of balancing it on the lap.
