Migraine sufferers might find relief from an unlikely source. A small study of 60 migraine sufferers tested the benefits of a homeopathic preparation containing the herbs ginger and feverfew. Homeopathic medicines contain extremely small doses. 45 of the headache victims used this homeopathic medicine at the start of a migraine, while 15 were given a similar appearing placebo. About two-thirds of those using the ginger-feverfew combination got relief, compared to about two-fifths of those using placebo. The study was too small to tell if this difference is significant, but offers some interesting possibilities for migraine treatment with herbs that have known pharmacological activity.
