Flu Prevention Is Simple

With H1N1 influenza spreading on college campuses, a lot of parents are concerned about what their kids should be doing to reduce their risk. Until vaccines are widely available, about the only thing that anyone can do is wash with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer and wear a face mask. That’s the conclusion of a two-year study conducted by researchers at the University of Michigan. Although the flu was fairly mild during the first year of the investigation, cases of seasonal influenza were cut almost in half when students followed the precautions of wearing a face mask and washing hands conscientiously.
