People with sensitive teeth search for toothpaste that will reduce the discomfort from heat, cold and acid foods. A new study of 80 patients compared a toothpaste containing a cacao extract (Theodent Classic with Rennou) to Sensodyne NuPro and standard Colgate toothpaste. (The study was paid for byTheodent.)
In this double-blind trial, volunteers brushed twice daily with the assigned toothpaste. After one week, exposed dentin had been remineralized more completely with the cacao containing toothpaste. Who would guess that same plant that gives us chocolate bars could also give us a product that would benefit teeth?

The usual recommendation for sensitive teeth is toothpaste with potassium nitrate, although apparently potassium citrate can work as well.
