The World Health Organization reports that Senegal and Nigeria are containing the spread of the Ebola virus.
That can’t be said for Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. According to researchers for the CDC, over a million people in West Africa could be infected with Ebola by the New Year. That is dramatically higher than the 20,000 predicted by the World Health Organization at the end of August.
The number of people coming down with the infection is doubling every two to three weeks in Liberia. The only way to stop the virus from spreading is by isolating infected patients. Only immediate and extensive disease control efforts will be able to control this epidemic.
