Declaration of Health Data Rights

On July 4, 1776, these famous words were adopted by the Continental Congress in the second sentence of the Declaration of Independence:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

These words changed history and are revered by people striving for human rights all over the world.

On June 22, 2009 at 9:00 pm EDT another declaration of Rights was created in the field of health care. A revolutionary band of visionaries proclaimed that data about our health belongs to us and we should have access to it. Information is power, after all!
