Coffee Drinkers Are Helping Their Livers

Coffee drinkers have fewer problems with their livers.

Add liver protection to the many benefits of coffee drinking.

Researchers have been reporting for years that regular coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes as well as certain kinds of cancer.

Caf or Decaf for Coffee Drinkers?

Now scientists at the National Cancer Institute report that consumption of 3 cups of regular or decaffeinated coffee a day is linked to lower liver enzyme levels. Patients who drank tea and other sources of caffeine did not have the same benefit.

That suggests that ingredients in coffee itself, rather than caffeine, could be responsible for the protective effect.
