Ad-Free at Last: Our Apology, Our Fix, and Your Seamless $5/Month Experience

If you have had trouble recently with ad-free browsing, rejoice. The problem has been fixed and you can read articles without ads.

Dear Valued Newsletter Subscriber,

We sincerely apologize for the recent issues with our ad-free subscription service. Some of you may have been charged without receiving the ad-free experience you signed up for. We’re happy to report that the issue has been resolved, and the service is now fully functional, providing the seamless, ad-free experience you deserve.

To our loyal subscribers, thank you for your patience and support. To new visitors, we invite you to enjoy an uninterrupted experience for just $5 per month. Join our ad-free community and immerse yourself in content without distractions.

What Is Ad-Free All About?

You may wonder what this ad-free issue is all about. If you look at any article on the People’s Pharmacy website, say today’s article about norovirus spreading across the country, you will see an ad in the upper right hand corner and ads interrupting every couple of paragraphs. They interrupt the flow of an article and often appear before a new heading such as “The War Over Germs,” “Dirty Money” and “The Barista Perspective.”

We wish we did not have to allow such ads, but maintaining this site is expensive. It is a repository for our podcasts, which are free to everyone. There are over 10,000 free articles on a wide variety of health care topics. There are only 3 of us to create and maintain all of this information. Keeping it functioning is a huge undertaking. One way we do this is through the advertisements.

If enough people were to sign up for our $5/month ad-free service, we would hope that we could someday eliminate ads for everyone. For now, though, we make them available to supporters who prefer no interruptions in our content.

The Big Ad-Free OOOPS:

We have heard from a number of readers that their ad-free experience was disappointing. That’s the last thing we want to hear from loyal subscribers. Here are just a few recent comments:

L. has been patient, but is getting upset:

“I signed up awhile ago to go Ad-Free, but I’m still getting ads, even if I am logged in.  I am getting charged the $5 every month.   Can you fix please.”

J. too is losing patience:

“On Dec 28 I sent you $5.00 to start my add free newsletter.  As of Jan 3 I am still getting adds..  WHY???”

L. ran out of patience:

“I want to let you know I am canceling my subscription as it has not been ad-free. I may read the site occasionally but ads are too distracting for regular use.”

Moving Forward Without Ads!

We apologize to all these people and others who suffered through our programming problems. We believe that our amazing web master has fixed this problem. Believe me when I say that keeping this website functioning is a huge project. We are incredibly grateful to Paul for keeping it running. Most sites of this size have dozens of workers creating content and managing the entire operation. This site has Joe & Terry for most content, Dave for the podcasts and Paul and Stefano to keep the whole site functional.

We want to thank you for being a part of our journey! We added the ad-free option to make the experience better for people who wish to spend $5 per month to avoid interruptions. Here is a link to that ad-free service if you would like to give it a try. You can cancel at any time.
